cw/tw: snake-like plant monster

Upon return, a weird rattle (like a rattlesnake) can be heard from the branches above. It's a Rattlevine, a monster made out of two very spiky vines (entwined together) that moves along the branches of the trees. It has two what looks like heads that can and will bite if give the chance and the plant has bloodlust.

And it's definitely coming for Night Sky.

That's gonna be a no from Night Sky. She's going to run away from it as fast as she can, preferably into a more dense patch of trees to try and lose it, still being careful of any pitfalls along the way. Let's find out how terrible this idea was.

Luckily for her, the Rattlevine is rather slow and needs to be on trees to properly maneuver so it won't give chase. She successfully escaped the monster.

If she continues venturing towards the mountain in the south, she will notice that sounds are getting a lot quieter as she goes. All the sounds. Even things she should hear loud and clear.

She'll keep on going in that direction, slowing her pace just a little when she notices the lack of sound. If she backtracks a little, can she hear things again? Like, is there a certain area of silence?

If she backtracks she will start hearing things again in the surroundings. It seems the further away from the mountain she gets the more she can hear normally again.

In this graphic, the yellow area is almost to complete silence, darker green is noticeable silence and the lightest green is appr. where she would have been that has light sound lacking.

After that slightly disorienting adventure of trying to map out where the silence begins and ends, Night Sky is going to dive back in and head toward the mountains, constantly looking around her once it gets too quiet. Looking for ambushes and such.

She wants to see if there are caves or anything in said mountains.

There's no cave entrances on this side of the mountain. Just a lot of conifers and some clear mountain streams with the purest of water that can be collected. Of course, the streams have no sound either.

For now it seems there are no monsters either.

Noted! I think she's going to conclude this initial investigation and start heading back the way she came, looking for any more tree portals but otherwise playing it safe.
