The four power holders

The last remaining native power holders. Their connection to nature and magic itself is extremely strong, which is one of the theories why they're the only ones who remained with power. The four are responsible for the barrier protecting Ellipsa from the Darkness. Each of them are managers of the Seasonal Guilds that used to serve all native power holders and are now remodeled to help Otherworlders with their mission.

Olwen, the kindness of winter

Olwen was born during a strong blizzard in a cabin that was located in the middle of the Winter Segment. Many think this is why he's adapted to his powers at a young age. He has been the leader of the Winter Guild even before the tragedy happened. He's always been known to be serious and very responsible, yet kind and caring.

He's calm, wise and doesn't get angry very often - but when he does he's icy and glares icicles at people (not literally). He wants people to think about their limits and be prepared as much as they can before venturing out into the danger. That's why he's always ready to answer anyone's questions - no matter what powers they have.

Olwen is usually the one people call a leader whenever they need someone to make decisions.

Jade, the energy of spring

Jade was born in the eye of a hurricane in the Spring Segment, where her parents used to live. It's for this reason that people believe she can fly almost as if she wasn't using her powers and create things with ease. Her powers have always been strong and looked like they were a second nature to her.

Due to her powers coming to her naturally, it's hard to keep a track of Jade as she bounces to different places. She's naturally hyperactive and always talking anyone's ears off. Of course when the situation calls for it she's composed and calm, but otherwise she's not above adding her own comments to any situation. Usually she speaks in puns and makes jokes. She does, however, get upset anytime someone tells her to shut up and may sulk for days.

Dawn, the shapeshifter of summer

Dawn was born during the hottest day in years, in the district of Solarpeak. Due to the scorching hot circumstances, people believe this is the reason she's one of the final power holders and a natural at any powers involving heat. She tends to change her look a lot as she doesn't want to get bored of the same look (usually she mostly changes her eye or hair color).

As the constant need to change her appearance might suggest, Dawn gets bored easily. That's why she's always trying to find fun ways to make a day more interesting and is usually in charge of planning any bigger parties Ellipsa may have. When she gets angry she can stay angry for a long time, but she never gets violent with anyone. Mostly she isolates herself from the things that made her angry and does anything else. Her main motto is that anger should always be channeled into doing something good, rather than evil.

Sawyer, the brat of autumn

Sawyer was born in the middle of an autumn storm that affected even his home district; Amberfall. Many suspect that's why he became known as a genius in the seasonal power arts. Unfortunately he always used his powers for pranks, rather than anything useful. He refused to take any responsibility until it was discovered that he really was one of the last ones with powers. Even then he isn't very co-operative and often stays hidden in his office at the Autumn Guild.

He's moody and tends to love to do things if there's a chance to cause chaos. He's not necessary a bad guy, but a bit a problematic and definitely someone who doesn't offer help easily. He's also keen on letting people take risks when exploring the the Segments because he believes taking risks is part of life... but also because he likes to see people fail.

Michael, The Mayor of Nightwake

Michael is in charge of the Nightwake Center District and is also the head of all apartments there. He's only been a Mayor for a year, but he's already made good changes for Nightwake's residents. Mostly he's made sure everyone has easy access to transportation and getting suitable housing for themselves.

As a person he's calm and level headed. He only talks whenever it's necessary. Usually when someone is needed to calm a situation, Michael is called in to make the announcement. No one really knows what he's like outside work because he likes to keep to himself.

Helene, Head of the Research Center

Outstanding leader of the Research Center. Helene is highly educated in the ways of technology and all sorts of chemistry. While her understanding of magic is lacking she has plenty of staff to help her out in combining magic and technology. Her hobby outside important jobs is to study potions and find ways to replicate their effects in medicine.

Helene may seem strict, but under her rough exterior she's more like a mother hen who worries about her subordinates and Otherworlders alike. All the decisions she makes are for the good of everyone. She also likes to have as much fun as she can.

Harrison, the Head of the Law Encforcement

A long time ago Harrison proved to Ellipsa that he doesn't need to be a power holder to be in charge of the law. His greatest achievement was arresting a good sized group of power holders who planned to go against the law and started absorbing other holders' powers. Instead of any magic available, he relies on technology and his own wits.

Harrison is a strict person and doesn't like people who bend or break the rules. He always looks serious and the smiles he offers are for those who he truly thinks have done a good job. He's not a bad person and has a soft spot for small children as he sees them as the future.

Starlight, The Social Media Star

A mysterious celebrity who has never revealed her true name to the public. Starlight can be seen on many ads, commercials and her Ellipsagram account is the hottest account to follow. She makes important announcements, but also posts a lot of memes and filters for others to use. She shines like a star, hence her stage name.

No one knows a lot about her outside social media. She never hosts public meetings and mostly sticks to Ellipsagram lives and stories. Her public persona is cheerful and always seems like she's having fun. All of her smiles are always genuine and whenever she's feeling down she doesn't take photos or videos of herself to keep it that way.

Riki, the Idol of rewards

A merchant by day, an idol by night. Riki is the one who manages the store where Otherworlders can get useful items to help with their journeys. He rarely appears there as more than a hologram as he's busy writing songs, being a model and performing in all sorts of places.

Riki is always cheerful and willing to help people when he has a chance. He has an active imagination so he's usually the one coming up with items - or at least giving ideas to people in charge of making them. No one's ever seen him sad or angry in public, but sometimes his smile isn't so genuine... or so some say.

Lara, The Fairy Queen

The leader of all fairies who holds one of the keys in fighting against the Darkness. She's young for a fairy, but she takes her responsibilities seriously and with grace. Currently she's in need of a lot of time to recover from being kidnapped by the "Wizard".

Lara gives off a gentle, motherly aura, but she does have a playful side to her like most of the fairies do. As the Queen she's the same size as humans, but can transform into a smaller form when necessary. She alway has a set of fairy wings on her back.

Helene

Usual location: Her office in the Research Center (Nightwake District)

Helene answers even the simplest questions with way too much information and details on the subject. She does, however, simplify whenever necessary and smiles with a kind smile as she does.

Kaveh and Alhaitham will be approaching the Research Center in search of jobs. They'll both introduce themselves as graduates of the Akademiya, the largest learning institute in their home world of Teyvat.

Alhaitham specifically mentions he's from the Darshan, or discipline, of Haravatat, which focuses on linguistics and rune studies. He has been working as a scribe for the Akademiya.

Kaveh will mention he's from the Darshan of Kshahrewar, which focuses on studying technology, and works as an architect.

If there are any further details the Research Center is interested in knowing, they would be willing to share for an equivalent exchange of information, but they are most interested in seeing if their details are suitable for any jobs here.

Helene is definitely happy to give both of them jobs, especially since they seem to have the needed experience.

There are jobs for people who can help them develop even more technology to help with the city, but also to help explore the segments.

And also jobs to help find ways to translate some very, very old texts into the common language of the world (which everyone somehow understands, both written and spoken). There are books they had managed to rescue from before the Darkness took them, but they only know some of the languages partially. (Some of them look very much like runes!)

Her only question is if they would be interested in such jobs.

Alhaitham has an interest in the translation job while Kaveh has one in technological developments.

When it comes to exploring the segments though, they both hold an interest there and inquire as to whether they could both also be hired on an as-they-are-needed basis.

In short, the translation and technology as their primary jobs and exploring segments as their secondary (or when they want more money).

Following his meeting with Dawn, Reiner pops by. After a polite & respectful introduction, he says he's there for two reasons:

1) He wants to do what he can to help people retain memories when they go home. He has zero experience in this! (Although he'll say he has suppressed memories due to trauma if asked.) However, he's basically willing to be a future test subject to make it happen, should the need arise.

2) He's got a curse! He relays what Dawn said, then explains that he'd like to find a way to ensure the curse remains inactive even in his world. Sample-wise, he suggests that his spinal fluid would be the most valuable, if a physical sample is needed. However, he cautions that it is absolutely critical that no one ingest it. (Which probably seems like a weird thing to say at all! But he's gotta say it.)

1) Helene is grateful for his offer and while she can't say what kind of tests there will be in the future, it's likely there will be some important ones. But it won't be until a while later till they need help with that.

2) She will ask that he comes gives a sample of his spinal fluid so they can analyze it and determine the next form of action. She makes a promise not for no one to ingest it and that it will be purely for studying. With his sample and a team working on it, she's certain they will come up with a backup plan in case it otherwise won't stay inactive.

Levi will write up a laconic but reasonably detailed report of his and Hange's first exploration mission and they (or just Hange, since they work there) will deliver it to Helene to share what they learned.

Helene thanks them for the detailed report and tells them that it will definitely help them with their research. She advises and encourages them to share this information with their fellow otherworlders as well.

During last half of January, Helene contacts Hange to ask them (and Levi) to deliver a teleport crystal to the location they found and to deliver her a jar of the healing pond water, for a reward of course (she's willing to give them 10,000 total for both, but it can be negotiated).

Hange and Levi (and Erwin) go out at the start of February! They set up the teleport crystal as requested, and they will also bring back a jar or maybe even two of the healing pond water for Helene on their way back! They'll also accept the 10k ofc.

Levi is going to come in and request (read: demand threateningly if not agreed upon quickly enough) that to honor his spouse's discovery which benefited everyone, and the fact they've just been SENT BACK TO DEATH, the Lake of Healing should officially be renamed Lake Hange.

Yes, especially after hearing about all that additional creepy shit information. He's quite certain they would have loved that.

Helene is very sad to hear about Hange's departure, promising to keep them in thoughts, hoping they would find their way back here. She will also tell in detail about the research being done to upgrade the summoning spell to let people come and go as they please - especially those who have nowhere else to go to. They have made some progress, but ancient magics are difficult to alter, so she asks for his understanding.

As for the request. it is done. She agrees to it right away and the change will be made to all maps (OOCly the map won't change, but in the texts and ICly the name will be referenced to Lake Hange from now on).

He'll still be grouchy about it but ultimately understanding, and offer to assist in any way he can, if the research ever needs someone who's good at punching cutting things or going further into the segments. He'll express similar hopes even if he knows the chances aren't big -- has anyone came back after disappearing so far? -- and will probably spend some time with Helene to talk about Hange, as she probably knew them fairly well by now, too. Can he buy you a terrible rainbow drink, Helene-

He'll also be touched by the immediate agreement and might even thank her. It won't bring Hange back but like this at least more people will hear their name and remember them for what they loved doing.

Re: Helene

Relius would like to request permission and access to the Research Center roof for a new project he wishes to work on.

Back in his world, there is a structure called an obelisk that allows for the concentration of human souls. He wishes to work on creating a similar device here at the research center but rather than absorbing souls, it absorbs and stores seasonal energy. He believes finding a way to store access energies that the magic users could pour into it could be useful for his bigger project; The Darkness Weapon Initiative.

He believes this will allow him to funnel seasonal energy from all four seasons into a weapon while he smelts it. This way they could test the cooperative principles of magic without needing multiple individuals casting the same spell. It would be stored in the obelisk instead and used to smelt the weapon, imbuing it with that cooperative energies during its creation.

He will gladly submit all data he has so far and provide regular updates on the progress of this project.

After thinking about it for a good while, Helene has to reject his request.

She reasons as follows: The tragedy was caused by someone absorbing all of the four seasonal powers into one vessel. It doesn't matter if the vessel is a person or an object, it's far too dangerous to be tried again, as it could launch yet another tragedy and null everything they have worked so hard for - maybe even make matters even worse.

If he desires to create a weapon, he would need to think about a way that doesn't does the seasonal energies themselves, but rather maybe combine powers like elemental magic instead. But he would have to do it on a smaller scale.

Relius accepts the rejection. After all, their purpose is to fight the Darkness, not strengthen it.

Perhaps a new method of combining seasonal magics together in creation of the obelisk then. Allowing for a staging area for his smelting.

He will research ideas and return later with a new proposal, earth manipulation, fire manipulation, and water manipulation to construct the obelisk instead. A small one to test the combined efforts of three elemental magics to create a singular construct. He would submit the proposal and request roof access once more.

exploration report-

Levi will provide a detailed military-styled report about his and Jean's latest expedition, also noting the mysterious hooded figure they encountered who is apparently able to teleport (he will probably also inform Olwen about this, but he trusts the big guys all share information anyway). They also deliver a chest with five low-gravity orbs and the mysterious book about them they found.

Helene expresses her gratitude and that the orbs were exactly what they were looking for. But she's pleased to also see that they have found a book relating to them.

She will tell all the necessary parties about this teleporting figure, so he doesn't necessarily need to visit Olwen (unless he really wants to).

Levi and Jean will also be receiving a reward to compensate for their journey. It's a puzzle book 2000 Moon Coins each, but she's willing to raise it, if it feels too cheap for the troubles.

And he would have done it for free honestly (since it might help Hange) so that sounds plenty enough for him. :> They probably could benefit from a puzzle book though... also he could always give it to Erwin so he'd accept that too LOL

Levi will provide a military-styled report about his and Eren's latest expedition, detailing Margaret's testimony about the seven mysterious people who came from other worlds (Doctor, Scientist, Wizard, Knight, Pierrot, Icarus, Heracles) and everything else she mentioned. (He will also share this information with Olwen, or let Helene do it, or perhaps invite him over for the report, whichever works best but I'm not reposting this on his toplevel too since it's pretty much the same thing -- if he'd have a unique reaction feel free to threadjack with him. :').)

They will also deliver some "Moon Ore" that they were able to retrieve and mention there is more that could be extracted with the appropriate tools.

Finally, he will request a teleport crystal that he could deliver to this location as per Margaret's wishes (and they could dig some more ore while at it if needed).

Helene will grant them the teleport stone and also tools to get more ore, just in case. She will begin experimenting on the ones they got right away.

Once again, both Levi and Eren will get 2000 Moon Coins for their troubles and information :> + an extra 1000 for the unlucky armor incident.

Something Shadow would approach Helene with is to ask her if there are scientists in the Research Center who specialize in DNA research and medical research. He was created to have his DNA cure diseases and he would like to continue that research here in Ellipsa. He wants to help and he is meant to be the key to curing all sorts of diseases.

He will obtain his creator's research via Riki's shop so they can have what he discovered during this creation.

If the Research Center would be willing to work with him and ensure the research was not used for weapons research.

They have a DNA and Medical facility that she can introduce him to and he can make the call if he trusts them with the research or not.
