The four power holders

The last remaining native power holders. Their connection to nature and magic itself is extremely strong, which is one of the theories why they're the only ones who remained with power. The four are responsible for the barrier protecting Ellipsa from the Darkness. Each of them are managers of the Seasonal Guilds that used to serve all native power holders and are now remodeled to help Otherworlders with their mission.

Olwen, the kindness of winter

Olwen was born during a strong blizzard in a cabin that was located in the middle of the Winter Segment. Many think this is why he's adapted to his powers at a young age. He has been the leader of the Winter Guild even before the tragedy happened. He's always been known to be serious and very responsible, yet kind and caring.

He's calm, wise and doesn't get angry very often - but when he does he's icy and glares icicles at people (not literally). He wants people to think about their limits and be prepared as much as they can before venturing out into the danger. That's why he's always ready to answer anyone's questions - no matter what powers they have.

Olwen is usually the one people call a leader whenever they need someone to make decisions.

Jade, the energy of spring

Jade was born in the eye of a hurricane in the Spring Segment, where her parents used to live. It's for this reason that people believe she can fly almost as if she wasn't using her powers and create things with ease. Her powers have always been strong and looked like they were a second nature to her.

Due to her powers coming to her naturally, it's hard to keep a track of Jade as she bounces to different places. She's naturally hyperactive and always talking anyone's ears off. Of course when the situation calls for it she's composed and calm, but otherwise she's not above adding her own comments to any situation. Usually she speaks in puns and makes jokes. She does, however, get upset anytime someone tells her to shut up and may sulk for days.

Dawn, the shapeshifter of summer

Dawn was born during the hottest day in years, in the district of Solarpeak. Due to the scorching hot circumstances, people believe this is the reason she's one of the final power holders and a natural at any powers involving heat. She tends to change her look a lot as she doesn't want to get bored of the same look (usually she mostly changes her eye or hair color).

As the constant need to change her appearance might suggest, Dawn gets bored easily. That's why she's always trying to find fun ways to make a day more interesting and is usually in charge of planning any bigger parties Ellipsa may have. When she gets angry she can stay angry for a long time, but she never gets violent with anyone. Mostly she isolates herself from the things that made her angry and does anything else. Her main motto is that anger should always be channeled into doing something good, rather than evil.

Sawyer, the brat of autumn

Sawyer was born in the middle of an autumn storm that affected even his home district; Amberfall. Many suspect that's why he became known as a genius in the seasonal power arts. Unfortunately he always used his powers for pranks, rather than anything useful. He refused to take any responsibility until it was discovered that he really was one of the last ones with powers. Even then he isn't very co-operative and often stays hidden in his office at the Autumn Guild.

He's moody and tends to love to do things if there's a chance to cause chaos. He's not necessary a bad guy, but a bit a problematic and definitely someone who doesn't offer help easily. He's also keen on letting people take risks when exploring the the Segments because he believes taking risks is part of life... but also because he likes to see people fail.

Michael, The Mayor of Nightwake

Michael is in charge of the Nightwake Center District and is also the head of all apartments there. He's only been a Mayor for a year, but he's already made good changes for Nightwake's residents. Mostly he's made sure everyone has easy access to transportation and getting suitable housing for themselves.

As a person he's calm and level headed. He only talks whenever it's necessary. Usually when someone is needed to calm a situation, Michael is called in to make the announcement. No one really knows what he's like outside work because he likes to keep to himself.

Helene, Head of the Research Center

Outstanding leader of the Research Center. Helene is highly educated in the ways of technology and all sorts of chemistry. While her understanding of magic is lacking she has plenty of staff to help her out in combining magic and technology. Her hobby outside important jobs is to study potions and find ways to replicate their effects in medicine.

Helene may seem strict, but under her rough exterior she's more like a mother hen who worries about her subordinates and Otherworlders alike. All the decisions she makes are for the good of everyone. She also likes to have as much fun as she can.

Harrison, the Head of the Law Encforcement

A long time ago Harrison proved to Ellipsa that he doesn't need to be a power holder to be in charge of the law. His greatest achievement was arresting a good sized group of power holders who planned to go against the law and started absorbing other holders' powers. Instead of any magic available, he relies on technology and his own wits.

Harrison is a strict person and doesn't like people who bend or break the rules. He always looks serious and the smiles he offers are for those who he truly thinks have done a good job. He's not a bad person and has a soft spot for small children as he sees them as the future.

Starlight, The Social Media Star

A mysterious celebrity who has never revealed her true name to the public. Starlight can be seen on many ads, commercials and her Ellipsagram account is the hottest account to follow. She makes important announcements, but also posts a lot of memes and filters for others to use. She shines like a star, hence her stage name.

No one knows a lot about her outside social media. She never hosts public meetings and mostly sticks to Ellipsagram lives and stories. Her public persona is cheerful and always seems like she's having fun. All of her smiles are always genuine and whenever she's feeling down she doesn't take photos or videos of herself to keep it that way.

Riki, the Idol of rewards

A merchant by day, an idol by night. Riki is the one who manages the store where Otherworlders can get useful items to help with their journeys. He rarely appears there as more than a hologram as he's busy writing songs, being a model and performing in all sorts of places.

Riki is always cheerful and willing to help people when he has a chance. He has an active imagination so he's usually the one coming up with items - or at least giving ideas to people in charge of making them. No one's ever seen him sad or angry in public, but sometimes his smile isn't so genuine... or so some say.

Lara, The Fairy Queen

The leader of all fairies who holds one of the keys in fighting against the Darkness. She's young for a fairy, but she takes her responsibilities seriously and with grace. Currently she's in need of a lot of time to recover from being kidnapped by the "Wizard".

Lara gives off a gentle, motherly aura, but she does have a playful side to her like most of the fairies do. As the Queen she's the same size as humans, but can transform into a smaller form when necessary. She alway has a set of fairy wings on her back.

Some days after Levi and Hange speak to Olwen, they’ll be requesting a meeting with Dawn, as well as mentioning that she should have have gotten a note about them from him.

This time, they will bring Eren along, and hopefully do a (slightly) better job at explaining his condition ~~(not to be mistaken for syphilis)~~. They’ll probably ask Dawn to check several times for more certainty as well as inquire what, if anything, can be done about things like this (since I doubt any of them will just be assured that it’s gone forever if she doesn’t find anything).

((OOC note: this is meant as an IC peace of mind arrangement for the characters only and is not intended to limit any future plots OOCly! Since otherworldly magic is involved, it could always turn out in the future to have been undetectable or prone to return, if the players decide they want to use the titan curse ingame after all.))

Dawn checks his condition several times, but only comes up with one "curse", but says it doesn't seem "life threatening" right now. It just seems like there is something; something that definitely is otherworld. But it's currently not something shortening his lifespan, as far as she can tell.

She can't sense anything that is killing him, currently, is the main point, but there's something that registers vaguely on her radar.

If the situation changes, Dawn is pretty sure anyone with Spring powers, using a potion that strengthens their powers, could be able to purify the curse, should they know they skill to do so.

(oocly: She can sense the titan "curse" but not the negative side of it, at least as of right now, as per "can appear again later if desires". Let us say it's dormant and later also removable if any drama over it oocly is desired? By then one of the AoT Summers could probably analyze him as well)

After Reiner finds out the results of this meeting (IC early August-ish), he'll approach Dawn with a similar inquiry. (First he'll introduce himself, of course! Very friendly and respectful.) He'll be quite forthright, explaining that he has a power that has cursed him with a shortened lifespan, and he's currently on a countdown set to end when he's 23 (5 years in the future). He'll ask if she can check to see if it's still life-threatening.

If he receives a similar answer ('something kicking around but not life-threatening'), he has a follow up question: will the curse remain non-life threatening once he returns to his world? Or is there a way to ensure that it does?

Reiner gets a very similar answer.

About the second inquiry, she's quite sure his condition would return to same IF it wasn't healed and is just "sealed" for now. Similar to a clock stopping. But there is always the chance it was properly healed and gone, which would mean that he could return without it.

Dawn suggests that the Research Center could probably work on something that would help keep the curse away even back in his own world. But there is always the chance of purifying him with Spring powers, if the problem returns while he's here. It would be good to keep a check on it - Summer holders should be able to learn detect his condition.

She explains they are working on different options for people who want to leave; ways to take magic from here with them and change their world or ways to travel between worlds. As long as he would be prepared for his world likely seeing him as an outcast for bringing in new knowledge and cures, anything is possible.

On default people would return home without memories of the place, as it's the easiest way to bring them back home, but they're trying to make their wishes come true. That is, they could always stay here, too, or travel to another world entirely.

Reiner is very grateful for this information! He's fine with the idea of being an outcast (it's nothing new for him), and stresses that he absolutely wants to keep his memories when he returns home. He asks if there's anything he can do to help with that endeavor—basically offering himself up as a test subject because he's just Like This.

Hange will likely continue talking Dawn's ear off about Summer power things for, like, six hours during which Levi and Eren will probably leave (Levi might come back later to fetch Hange though). Enjoy the interview slash conversation!

There's no need for Reiner to volunteer, at least not at this point in time. But if he wants he can give his contact info to Helene, the Research Center boss, in case they do need assistance? That's most she can offer right now.

Reiner sincerely thanks Dawn for the info and for her time! He might be a liiiittle emotional about it because the clock not actively ticking down is a very big deal to him. He's just very grateful! (Congrats, Dawn, you're his favorite. ♥)

Then he'll head over to the Research Center to visit Helene ~~which i will do momentarily weeee~~

Following his meeting with Dawn, Reiner pops by. After a polite & respectful introduction, he says he's there for two reasons:

1) He wants to do what he can to help people retain memories when they go home. He has zero experience in this! (Although he'll say he has suppressed memories due to trauma if asked.) However, he's basically willing to be a future test subject to make it happen, should the need arise.

2) He's got a curse! He relays what Dawn said, then explains that he'd like to find a way to ensure the curse remains inactive even in his world. Sample-wise, he suggests that his spinal fluid would be the most valuable, if a physical sample is needed. However, he cautions that it is absolutely critical that no one ingest it. (Which probably seems like a weird thing to say at all! But he's gotta say it.)

1) Helene is grateful for his offer and while she can't say what kind of tests there will be in the future, it's likely there will be some important ones. But it won't be until a while later till they need help with that.

2) She will ask that he comes gives a sample of his spinal fluid so they can analyze it and determine the next form of action. She makes a promise not for no one to ingest it and that it will be purely for studying. With his sample and a team working on it, she's certain they will come up with a backup plan in case it otherwise won't stay inactive.

Reiner is happy to provide the sample and sincerely thanks Helene for her help. (She joins Dawn in the favorite column. ♥)

Levi will write up a laconic but reasonably detailed report of his and Hange's first exploration mission and they (or just Hange, since they work there) will deliver it to Helene to share what they learned.

Helene thanks them for the detailed report and tells them that it will definitely help them with their research. She advises and encourages them to share this information with their fellow otherworlders as well.

After the viral video went up Ayato will be trying to get in touch with Olwen to:

a) get a less anti-Sawyer biased opinion/feedback on what happened. He'll tell him he's heard from Hijikata what Dawn told him about suspicions the portals were done internally, but Ayato will also admit that while he isn't keen on Sawyer, he didn't get the impression it would be him. (Honestly he deals with cunning people all the time and he didn't get that vibe from him so it seems like he could be being used as a scapegoat, especially since the other power holders seem to be speaking up for him.)

b) asking if there's any way he can offer assistance. His personal biggest concern will be ensuring to reduce panic if people (locals and otherworlders alike) think a powerholder is abusing their position to harm people. He already knows people who don't trust them, and this situation will likely make it worse, so if there's anything he can do on the ground to make things smoother he'll do his best.

First of all, Olwen appreciates the concern he's showing for the situation.

a) Olwen will tell him honestly that none of the power holders think Sawyer did it, but Harrison is a very stubborn person and they generally don't want trouble with him. Besides, since Sawyer ran it's harder to plead his case but Olwen is sure Sawyer is looking for the real culprits as they speak.

It's clear from his tone that Olwen is a bit disappointed in Harrison and he hopes that Sawyer will return with good news soon. Sawyer might be reluctant and a brat, but he's not a bad person, Olwen confirms. He's like the bratty little brother for all of them.

b) Olwen appreciates any help Ayato might offer, especially if he can handle the otherworlders in a way so they don't gain even more distrust. But he also hopes Ayato won't shoulder too much responsibility.

Ayato will let him know that he tries to spend as much time 'on the ground', so to speak, to get an idea of what people are feeling/if there's any cause for concern. He'll thank him for the clarity regarding Sawyer, and tell him about the plans he'd wanted to put in place to try and organise more festivals/events for people based on their home worlds so they don't feel as isolated from their culture. It may not work until things calm down a bit, but it should help with morale.

Other than that, time is the best remedy really and Sawyer coming back with good news is likely the best they'll get to chance the populace's minds. If someone is trying to set him up though, it may take similar tactics to trap them well.

He'll also let Olwen know he'll speak to Hijikata and see if they can come up with any other ideas in case people get too distrustful.

Olwen will tell him that he's glad they have people like Ayato and Hijikata willing to help them with this.

He also mentions they will definitely listen to any necessary feedback considering how they can make matters easier on people and to gain their trust easier, should anyone have any ideas.

Earlier in the December month, Olwen will get a teenage visitor ~~from syphilis land~~ after denizens of Ellipsa are caught in in Eren's Path's trip, although the visit is unrelated.

He has an idea for people who transform into 'large creatures', as he puts it: he wants to know if it's possible to build an arena in one of the segments, that could withstand a ton of damage for people who might want to practice with said forms or 'let loose'. He's willing to help out if there's building or clearing out that needs to be done!

She's friendly and chatty and will even respond to some flirting. Usually in her regular, human-sized form but sometimes lurks in fairy size.

Olwen likes this idea and will start developing it. Marco is free to help out by coming up with a name or asking people who transform into such creatures if they have any special requirements for the arena they might need think about - or just ideas for things that might be good for it.

He will handle all the other necessary things, such as location, magic required in the making and such.

Marco already has a name in mind - Titanic Dome. Completely unaware of any other water-based associations, he thinks stealthily naming it after Titans is a good choice. He agrees to look into more people who transform than just the people he knows, though he does let Olwen know the battle capabilities of the Colossal, Armored, Attack, and Jaw Titans. He also suggests maybe some scaffolding or buildings that smaller transformed people or humans with magical abilities could scale.

He thanks Olwen and promises to come back with any updates on special requirements or additional ideas!

A rather haggard-looking Reiner shows up in the middle of the month with a question for Olwen:

Can Reiner trade his place in this world and give it to someone else? Can he go home in exchange for someone else coming here?

He says that he has a picture of the person he wants to bring here. He has things that they've touched. He can describe anything and everything about them. He knows where they were and what they were doing when he was pulled to this world.

He says he'll do anything necessary to help make it happen if it's possible.

Olwen looks sympathetic, since Reiner seems so desperate but has to reply that there is currently no possible way to bring anyone specific to this world - nor is there a way to "exchange places". That is an unfortunate nature of the magic: you can't pick and choose people. Otherwise everyone here would be willing helpers.

He, however, promises Reiner that if they manage to find a system where they can summon people, Reiner would be one of the first ones to know. They are constantly studying the summoning magic in hopes of improving their methods.

If Reiner is willing, Olwen offers to listen to Reiner's story and why this person is important to him, but at the same time he won't push for answers. He's merely offering a listening ear.

Reiner is visibly devastated by the news, but he figured it was a slim hope, anyway. He accepts Olwen's promise, again offering to do anything necessary if it will help with those studies.

Then Reiner tells Olwen about Bertholdt Hoover.

It's readily apparent that Reiner loves this person he calls both "best friend" and "partner." He describes their near-inseparable childhood and teenage years; he touches on the burdens they carry as human weapons; he talks about Bertholdt's skill, intelligence, and strength. But mostly, Reiner speaks intimately, recalling quirks, habits, and stories. He and Bertholdt spent over a decade all but glued to each other's side, and it shows.

Then Reiner tells Olwen that Bertholdt will die in his very near future. He stresses that he cannot let that happen. He has to stop it. He has to save his partner.

When Reiner finishes speaking, he says, "Please." Please let him know if there are any advancements in the magic. Please let him know if there's anything he can do to help. Please.
