Portal Dimensions
Introduction
Ellipsa is connected to several dimensions. They're all part of the world, but exist on other plains entirely.
There are two different types of dimensions:
- World Expansions. Places that are connected to Ellipsa completely, adding something to the world, such as Hell Dimension.
- Neighbours. Places that have their own magic systems completely, with little to no relation to Ellipsa.
Portals all require a portal gun and a coordinate of two numbers; X and Y. So one coordinate would be x1, y2 for example. The coordinates come from "a grid" of 999 x 999.
Once a dimension has been officially chosen, the portal gun used will be locked to that location only (other portal guns cannot access it). Before that characters are able to visit different worlds briefly (max. 24 hours before the portal closes) to investigate what they're like and make a choice based on their discoveries.
Portal Dimensions, once locked, can remain open as long as the character wants them to be - so even permanently in their own house, for example.

Portal Guns
The devices look a lot like radar guns in different kinds of colors and decorations. The numbers are put on the gun by num pads installed on them. The trigger works as both opening and closing method.
First portal gun can be received from the Research Center for free; gaining more requires 50,000 Moon Coins per gun.
The portal guns are very sturdy, but if one does break it can be easily fixed by either Winter Powers or at the Research Center. The coordinates will only be erased from it if it's completely broken into bits and pieces. If that happens, the portal will either remain closed or open.
Nature of the Portal Dimensions
The portal dimensions are whatever players wish them to be with some restrictions.
The worlds inside the dimensions are no bigger than Madagascar. They come in various different landscapes. Some are lush green islands surrounded by the sea while others might be mode modern, empty cities. All of them are blank canvases in terms of having no people in them.
Instead the dimensions usually have their own wildlife that fit the world's landscapes. It's entirely possible to encounter communities of animals living a normal life like they would back on Ellipsa.
There's also a possibility that a world is filled with monsters. Hostile or peaceful, intelligent or savages, maybe even a mix of all. There could be just wildlife and monsters. But one thing they lack is 'humans' or human-like people.
All monsters with human-like intelligence need a permission from the portal owner to come out of their dimension. Others can come and go as they want, which is why the Research Center suggests opening portals for the first time in a safe space and not in one's living room.
New monster species can be made by the characters and even submitted to this comment, in case you want to 'accidentally' release some into Ellipsa. Just don't create any game breaking world ending ones.
Players are also free to come up with a magic system for their world, but the magic from the dimensions can't be brought to Ellipsa at this moment.
Use
Portal Dimensions are given to otherworlders to "use as they wish". Exploration, cultivation, experimentation. The Research Center only asks that people treat the local ecosystems with respect and don't bring the dimensions into complete ruins just for fun.
Officially, the research center is using these dimensions to test ways to bring people from other worlds into Ellipsa willingly. A safe place to do magic that's normally dangerous to use.

Plot Important Portals
x150, y300: Place Between (Event)
Entrance: Currently Closed
A space that looks as if the water surface and the sky melt together, as the water reflects the starry sky. On the water there are several rowing boats. Once at least two people are inside a boat it will start moving across the surface of water and will eventually disappear into a mist.
x??, y??: Hell Dimension
Entrance: Heart Will Go On Glacier
Home of demons and other dark creatures. Seems to be on fire.

Other Known Portals
Portals that have appeared in TDMS, Quests and so on, provided by the mod team.
x151, y151: Pokémon Dimension (April 2025 TDM)
Entrance: Underground Mall
Stepping into the domain is like stepping into another world. Right inside of it, there’s an array of things for getting started on exploration.
There’s a vending machine with simple food and drink items that are going to be easy to store and travel with when venturing further into the domain. There’s also a small machine with camping items - just in case anyone forgot to grab their own before setting out into the domain. Any items bought are yours to keep - and it seems these vending machines were set up just after the domain was opened up.
Nearby, there’s a vending machine featuring things that are needed for any Pokémon Trainer - Poké Balls! All Poké Balls (except Master) are able to be obtained in this vending machine. And, if someone gets lucky it will drop a shiny charm or other useful items in your adventure (think things like Potions, Repels, Lures).
Throughout the domain, there’s several different biomes - mountains, fields, forests, water, ice, caves, etc. They are typically found in biomes appropriate to them (Zubats in Caves, Rattatas in tall grass, Magikarp in bodies of water - for example). Most Pokémon can be found if you search the right spots. There are no Legendary or Mythical Pokémon, and the Pseudo-Legendary are extremely rare.
Other locations that can be found throughout domain are:
● Pokémon Centers - There are two different types of these throughout the domain. Some are run totally automatically without any help from staff. There are others that are manned by Pokémon - especially Chansey! These Pokémon Centers will have vending machines with food, drink, and Poké Balls.
● Campgrounds - These are scattered throughout the domain. Many are set up near the Pokémon Centers; however, there are some scattered throughout.
● Bicycle and Scooter Stations - The first one is not far from the entrance. There’s many throughout the domain which have bicycles and electric scooters that can be used for faster travel. When a one is left abandoned or unused for a few hours, it will be returned to the nearest station. These electric scooters are able to last for 48 hours of solid movement without a charge, but simply parking it at a station seems to charge it! Scooters make sounds that can scare off wild Pokémon, while bicycles are quiet.
● Observation Towers - There’s four of them in total in the domain. Climbing up a long staircase will lead someone to the top which allows them to get a good view of the landscape. In these, there’s a telescope to help enable someone to see quite far! There’s also one cot in case anyone wants to stay there for the night.
190x, 5y: Farmland (June/July 2025 Questboard)
There's a portal dimension that's being used to grow crops for the people of Nightwake since there's not enough farmland. Crops are mostly grains and other field crops, such as wheat, barley, canola, or flax. The farm work involves irrigation (it doesn't rain so much in summer!), weeding, spreading fertilizer, finding ways to keep out pests like mice and gophers that are eating the crops, and possibly finding ways to protect the crop from hail or fires.
x238x, y25: Jam (April/May 2025 Questboard)
A dimension that's basically a giant jar full of jam.

New Monsters

Portal: 51x24y
Monster Name: Glomon
Description: Warm and fluffy, glowing and round, Glomon range in size from a billiards ball to a medicine ball. They are intelligent and able to communicate, and they are willing to share their home as long as no one hurts them or takes too much for themselves. Some also get curious about the outside world and will approach anyone who looks friendly to ask them questions about their life here.

Claimed Portal Coordinates: x51,y24
Location: ...not usually anywhere, she opens and closes it on request, but if it's open it'll usually be in the space under her house (as it's a stilt house)
Public or Private: Private simply because it never occurred to her to make it a constantly open portal!
Description: Dark sky, forest of giant glowing mushrooms (...you can probably eat them, but you might get sick and you'll definitely start mildly glowing for a week), and warm, fluffy orb beings that emit light and are just kinda vibing. They're happy to coexist with anyone as long as their home is respected, and since Rinku doesn't really want to take it, they're chill. The forest is full of free friends.
Welcome to Jurassic Park / Jurassic World / Dinosaur Sanctuary
Claimed Portal Coordinates: x93, y22
Description: Tropical place full of valleys, mountains and all sorts of dinosaurs. Most of them are herbivores, so some of the areas are safe at least until carnivores stray in for a visit.
(Yes yes yes YES!! My dreams of a dinosaur area in Seasons, that's like Jurassic Park / Jurassic World finally comes true since this is basically like a lot of the dinosaur areas from them... and fun fact; even those coordinates are the release year of the original Jurassic Park and the release year of Jurassic World Dominion ♥ ♥ )

Claimed Portal Coordinates: x10, y31
Description: A technological city surrounded by woods and mountains filled with deadly creatures kinda like the Grimm but not. City is filled with human-like robots and while nice and pristine, a lot of tech is broken.

Claimed Portal Coordinates: x69, y69
Description: This monster-free zone is a perfect place for a vacation with options depending on your mood. In the distance, there's a mountain range, which seems to cover the northern most part of the entire dimension. To the west, there's a beach, perfect for lounging. In the water, there's all sorts of interesting fish - they come in surprising colors and different shapes. Everything is just a bit different from what you'd expect. To the east there seems to be a city - it looks to be in fairly good shape despite the lack of people to maintain it. There's a few scattered villages beyond that and in some parts of the land, there's more isolated homes and things like farms. As far as wildlife goes, there's a lot of interesting animals, but they seem generally harmless and friendly. Some may be a bit different from what you'd expect - like green horses and purple cats.

Claimed Portal Coordinates: x69, x420
Description: From above, this place is an island that looks suspiciously like a set of someone's assets (depending on who you ask) with a large crack in the center that seems to have been made by an earthquake. The only signs of life in this world are trees that grow eggplants and peaches. Other than that, there are many small little houses that people can use dotted around the island; they may be a little dusty due to disuse but are otherwise in relatively decent shape.

Claimed Portal Coordinates: x005, x015
Description: A tropical jungle near the shore, the aboveground is filled with dangerous flora, quicksand, and deep holes that are easy to miss in the brush. The underground is calmer, and full of crystals that have a wide variety of minor magical effects.
NSFW - undernegotiated consent
Claimed Portal Coordinates: x1, y32
Description: A suburban area populated by furries, the world is geographically unremarkable and has no wild monsters. The inhabitants have a culture of free use: it's perfectly normal and acceptable to have sex anytime, anyplace, with anyone. Public sex is considered completely unremarkable.
no subject
Claimed Portal Coordinates: x500, y500
Description: This land is as expansive as it can possibly be, and it's covered in ruins. There's even underground dungeons to explore, too. It's full of resources that would be useful to adventurers - stuff for crafting, alchemy, etc. There may even be some puzzles to solve when there...!
Above ground, the ruins vary in type - from castles, to temples, to long-gone cities. There's certainly something that happened here - and this place is a puzzle to uncover! The creatures on the surface are mostly smaller animals - birds, bugs, that sort of thing. Nothing out of the ordinary or surprising.
Underground is dungeons. This is full of everything from the cliche underground dungeon with puzzles and traps, to beautiful underground ruins covered in plant life that doesn't seem to require sunlight. There can even be some interesting monsters underground like mimics, slimes, that sort of thing.

Claimed Portal Coordinates: x303, x213
Description: Basically ancient egypt but all the people are cats. Not even cat people, but regular cats that can talk with magic. They have their own little world here that they run and rule. Aesthetics are very Ancient Egypt vibes except there's a lot of scratcing posts everywhere.
The cats may have not met humans before but they're easy to communicate and befriend as long as people respect their world.
