1) Dawn explains that the Segments used to continue far, far away. At least four times larger than they are right now with maybe some undiscovered places too. There were a few human settlements with people who wanted to live in the "nature", but they don't know what happened with them and fear for the worst; that's why they've been trying to get the mecha suits to work to explore the darkness.
They only know the fairy kingdoms outside the current borders managed to evacuate. There was also the grand library of all libraries, that was lost with the darkness that took away most of their books and therefore knowledge of the place (they hadn't managed to translate all of them, as most of them were in languages of the fairies and other mythological beings). Dawn can't even remember simple words of the languages. Olwen knows a little bit though.
2) Dawn opens up about the groups that seem to distrust and hate power holders in particular. So far they've been doing petty things, like trying to sabotage guild property, but her theory is this is somehow related to them. But she has no concrete evidence or any idea of their motives other than the fear that power holders will just cause a second Tragedy. But it makes no sense to her, since by sabotaging power holders, the world will never heal.
(And no, she doesn't like being the traitor. Sawyer does tho, since it's not "boring". Dawn dislikes boring things but she dislikes killing things (even in a game) even more.)
