2023

Events of 2023

The Beginning
February - April

First Otherworlders started appearing in the world in late February (February TDM). The Power Holders let them settle in for a while before making the finalizations to open the four Seasonal Guilds (March Event).

Questboards started being used in April, giving the otherworlders another source of income other than the jobs in the city. April was also the first of the strange weather phenomenon and the strange appearance of Monster Portals (April TDM). The investigation on these strange portals started right away.

The beginning had been going calmly, as planned.

The Mecha Project Launch & Failure
May

The Mecha project that had been developed in the Research Center was ready to make its beta launch (May Event). Things were going smoothly with characters testing the mecha together and it seemed the machines worked just as planned.

Then something went wrong and the mecha project went berserk, causing Memory Portals appears all over the city. These portals took the otherworlders' memories and made them into either interactive spaces or watchable movies for anyone who walked into an occupied portal.

The Mecha Hangar was overrun with monsters made from memories and data, but with the help of otherworlders the project was finally shut down. The hangar was damaged and the morale in city was also hurt.

The Underground Mall & The Frozen Hearts Incident
June-July

The Underground Mall was opened to bring some celebration and cheer to everyone in the city (June TDM). The new area under the city provides with more exciting services and things like Pokémon (no one still knows where the Pokémon came from).

However, the Underground Mall also brought on Nightwake's darkside; the deeper levels of the mall are filled with Criminal Organizations, each with their own agenda. Hearts group is the most noticeable, as they are the reason some otherworlders have now activated their monster forms.

The Law Enforcement does deal with them often, but with how sneaky the groups are, it's impossible to completely shut them down.

In July, the scientists finally saw the Temple of Life open its doors and several natives were rescued from the Gigaman Simulator (July Event). However, at the same time another weather phenomenon was taking over the city.

The cold wind brought on the Frozen Hearts incident. Those with secrets to hide were especially affected, but anyone could have their hearts frozen. Luckily the otherworlders worked together to find potion ingredients and saved both their own and natives alike from becoming icicles.

The Fairy Queen
August - September

The Fairy Queen had been missing ever since the Darkness took over the Fairy Kingdom. The fairies have never forgotten about her, so they celebrated her 200th birthday in Nightwake City (August TDM).

It was also revealed that Fae had also survived the Darkness and were masquerading as sentient Mushroom People that live in the Autumn Segment. Their goal is to build an Underground Fae Kingdom, even if their efforts have been stopped for the time being.

Perhaps it was because of the celebration, or maybe it was just a coincidence, but in September, the mermaids gave news of the missing Fairy Queen (September Event). A rescue mission was immediately started by the Summer Guild leader, Dawn, who dived into the Great Ocean Lake with the otherworlders. Together they fought with the sirens and rescued the Fairy Queen.

However, it wasn't the sirens that were the real culprit behind the queen's disappearance. Instead a name, "The Wizard" has been brought to everyone's attention. Who are they and what did the want from the Fairy Queen? Mysteries remain. For now the Fairy Queen needs a lot of rest before she can give her side of what happened.

Festival & Masquerade
October - November

October and November are the time for a nameless festival where people say goodbye and help spirits and ghosts cross to the other side (October TDM). This can only be done during these months when a certain magical energy is concentrated on the city. Otherworlders and natives alike were encouraged to light up candles that let them see pleasant dreams of loved ones, as well as protected those who have previously died with a light.

Otherworlders were also invited to a masquerade costume party on an airship, where some of the costumes took control of their wearers. Otherwise it was an opportunity to remain completely anonymous for the night.

Sawyer and Fairy Dimension of the past
November

In the middle of November, the Law Enforcement made a breakthrough on the mysterious portal case. Sawyer, the Autumn Guild Leader, was found guilty for these crimes. He manages to escape the Law Enforcement and hasn't been seen ever since. Currently Jade (Spring Guild Leader) is doing her best to look after Sawyer's guild.

Also in November otherworlders were requested to take on a mission to help the Fairy Queen regain her former strength (November Event). It was a dangerous mission that could very well cost anyone their life, which is what everyone was warned about. The dimension also had the power to de-age people, making the mission even more chaotic than it needed to be.

The Fairy Queen received the ingredients needed for her ritual and started preparing for it.

Holiday Season
December

It's the Winter Holidays, which means it's a prime time for relaxation, gift giving and spending time with loved ones (December TDM). Both cleaning machines and mistletoes go around, spreading the holiday spirit.

Those who helped make different kinds of fireworks were also granted something from home, and the new year started off with color and relaxation.

2024

Events of 2024

The Return of Sawyer and the Doctor
January

Half-way through January, Sawyer finally contacted everyone once again (January Event). He brought important information about the portal incidents and the villain behind them and let himself be arrested until he was caught.

Around the same time, positive news came in from the Fairy Queen: her powers had been restored back to their former glory. This enabled her to give everyone a special boost to their abilities in form of Magical Tattoos, which would surely be useful for the mission ahead.

With Olwen taking the lead, otherworlders went inside the portals to battle the creatures there and to find the Doctor. With the help of otherworlders the catch the villain and bring him to jail. Unfortunately the Doctor managed to use unknown magic to make himself comatose and protect himself from dream walking so he's currently just in holding.

Sawyer returned to his duties as a Guild Leader after, now that his name was cleared.

Otherworlders were also tasked to defeat a creature named All Consuming Darkness, that was previously encountered by explorers. With the help from the magical tattoos, they were able to put and end to the creature that was a threat to the whole world.

Spring Celebrations & the Metaverse
February - March

In February a project that had been held a secret was revealed: the Titanic Dome that would let people train and fight with nothing holding them back (February TDM). It was also the time to celebrate Spring in general, with bonfires all over Nightwake (and pancakes).

Come March, the Research Center started another project to study and practice with means to defeat the Darkness (March Event).

Unfortunately, a virus had been previously planted by the Doctor, which meant that the virtual reality program glitched, stopping anyone from logging out and dragging people not part of the project in... as well as people not normally on Ellipsa (4th Wall).

By the end of March the Research Center finally managed to get the situation under control and get everyone out safely.

Crystals & Information
April - May

The yearly weather effect of Rain of Affection hit Nightwake once again. That's why a group of crystal miners came together and started teaching people about precious gemstones and enchanting them. Crystal Mine is one of the places that was lost to "The Darkness" and it existed in the Autumn Segment. All crystals and gemstones from the mines have a natural magical aptitude, meaning they can be easily enchanted into various purposes. They were used for armors, weapons, accessories and such to help fight the monsters of the world. Now the remaining gemstones from the mines were given for otherworlders to use. ( April TDM)

May was also when a Magical Underground library was discovered from under the Amberfall Library. Otherworlders were tasked to find information that has long since been buried, with various successes. It would seem the library was also in a rather mischievous way, as it also turned people into fairytales. Unfortunately, the horror section was corrupted and turned into a potentially fatal place. Enough books were destroyed that the corruption was destroyed. (May Event)

Preparations were also starting for an upcoming mission that was going to soon take place in the Winter Segment - the Frozen Falls.

Tensions rising, mission preparations, but also vacation feelings
June

Questboard got updated with new quests at the start of June. Normally there's one to two High Risk quests, but this time all seasonal segments had big quests going on. This was a worrying turn of events, which made the mission to Frozen Falls potentially even more important.

However, the mission preparations were still going on. Otherworlders were asked to participate in a ritual of luck, which involved dancing and making flower crowns, to bring back a nearly extinct species of fairies: the sugar plum fairies. Helping them would bring them luck.

As if to give everyone a chance to relax before the big mission, a water park was opened in Solarpeak by the name of Mega Waterland and everyone was invited there for free. There was also a chance to play real life Mario Kart - in the skies. (June TDM)

Mission Frozen Falls, Dragons, Map Expansion & Celebrations
July - August

The mission to explore the Frozen Falls begins (July Event). All of the four guild leaders were with the otherworlders, fighting and providing support as they approached the Frozen Lake. There Olwen uses a staff (with the help of others) to break the Eternal Blizzard and gain access to the inside of the Frozen Falls.

There everyone is met with a challenge of the reflections. Characters were faced with the worst version, the best version, the darkness-corrupted version or even the alternative universe version of themselves and had to find a way to make the reflection go back to the icy walls - through peace or death.

Once enough reflections were fought of, the group was able to advance even further into the cave where they met dragons. Dragon Lord Opallios, who told that long time ago, he and his kin were imprisoned into this artificial space where time doesn't seem to move. He didn't have any idea how long it had been, but the group is the first people he'd seen in a long time.

Otherworlders were tasked with talking with the dragons, to possibly rekindle their trust in humanity. Opallios even creates portals to Nightwake, so anyone who didn't attend the mission can participate.

The mission is a success. Dragons once again start trusting mankind. They expand the world but pushing the Darkness back as much as they possibly can.

Celebrations happened in and smaller dragons even joined people there. However, the parties continue next month as well, as cute creatures called Odder Otters helped celebrate the events even more at the Great Ocean Lake. (August TDM).

Taking back the Fairy Kingdom
September

The Fairy Queen requested help from the otherworlders. She wanted to reclaim the Fairy Kingdom (September Event). After many important preparations (and possibly befriending a Flower Fairy Dog), the mission can begin. The Fairy Queen uses the positive reinforcements of the sun to lift the barrier around the kingdom.

Inside there is a very colorless world. So colorless even characters lose their color. Anyone who left the kingdom in this state joined the dark, colorless fae outside as an emotionless husk who only collects skeletal flowers.

While the Fairy Queen made her way towards her throne, the otherworlders were subjected to the eight different fae trials. Doing enough of them would restore their colors and doing enough of them would even give them a new spell.

The colors returned to the whole kingdom after the Fairy Queen sat on her throne, marking the mission complete.

Meanwhile in Nightwake, characters participated in flower fairy rituals by sharing their memories. This could in turn send help for those in the fae trials, even if they weren't aware of it.

Floating Lanterns, Harvest Baskets and Halloween
October

October brought around the Nameless Death Festival once again (October TDM) that would last until end of November. Beautiful lanterns were released into the skies and spirits were helped to pass into the afterlife. Some ghosts even got the chance to eat one last meal.

The locals had adopted Halloween as an official holiday, dressing up as different things and offering spooky deals. But since autumn is also a harvest season, everyone was given a harvest basket.

However, failing to eat the vegetables in time turned them giant. It didn't take long for the city to have several giant corn mazes with mysterious moving jack o'lantern and very regular seeming scarecrows start fighting over their territory and otherworlders needed to help stop them.

At the start of November, a halloween party was also held at the guilds.

The Trap at the Abandoned Mines & Portal Dimensions
November

Next big mission was to explore the Abandoned Mines in the Autumn Segment (November Event)). As usual, preparations were being made. Even the library tried to help, but caused chaos in the library instead.

The Abandoned Mine turned out to be a trap. Those who went inside couldn't get out anymore and all abilities were rendered useless. As if to make matters worse, several skeletons came around and kidnapped people. They were brought to a labyrinth that seemed to be moving occasionally.

Sawyer managed to use the mysterious panels to send an SOS message to the people stationed outside. The people there were able to find more panels like it and hack their way through the system and shut it down. The labyrinth "game" ended, the powers returned and everyone was rescued from the mines. Sawyer promised to bring the matter of a traitor to the others.

After the mission in the mines, the Research Center invited people to try out some new technology. Portal Dimensions were officially introduced to everyone and people were encourage to go and explore them.

Holidays and end of the year
December

Among the officially adopted holidays is also Christmas, now called Yuletide. To celebrate it this year, fairy bunnies started following people around with mistletoes (December TDM). Luckily, they could be easily bribed with dandelions or other nice treats.

Special candles were also handed out that would let characters see their loved ones through illusions. The more traditional districts of Nightwake were also using natural fire as an ambience.

A group of students from the Magical Manor wanted to bring snow into every district, including the summer ones, for the Yuletide celebrations. This, however, angered multiple snow sprites that brought in storms everywhere and needed to be danced or sung to to calm them down.

There were also several activities inspired by the Yuletide season. All of them promote cleansing the body of the old year and starting anew. Meanwhile evenings in Nightwake were designed for the purposes of new beginnings.

2025

The Labors at the Ruins
January

In January a new mission was decided in secret. They still hadn't caught the spy among them, so they couldn't afford to have another mission jeopardized by someone. The mission was set in the Deserter's Desert, where they found ruins to explore (January Event). A portal gun's signal was detected so they went to look for it. Everyone going in was handed a signal ring to find the signal easier.

The ruins had a labyrinth that lead them to six different animal artifacts; lion, hydra (multi-headed snake), hind (a female deer), boar, ox and bird. Touching one of them lead to a different trial. Succeeding in a trial awarded them with a giant puzzle piece they could put on the wall at the end. Once all the pieces were found, a treasury opened. Characters were able to take home several different treasures and the portal gun was recovered.

Love is in the Air
February

February is the month to celebrate love. That's why there was a Valentine's confession wall set up in the city, where anyone could share their feelings anonymously. It was also the time to start a fundraiser for the animal shelters, as they were starting to get a little too crowded (February TDM). The fundraiser included a petting zoo, ballroom dancing, a dinner and some meme dances.

There was also a chance to make wishes at the enchanted lock fence in Amberfall. The wishes were granted in the smallest, most random of ways. In fact, the wishes were granted in such a way that it improves their day.

However, thanks to one a little too ambitious mage, the magic of the locks started acting weirdly. Rather than everyone being granted wishes in a little bit of a bigger way, one wish gets applied to everyone in a very big way - whether they initially put a lock on the fence or not. People would wake up throughout this with a magical red thread attached to one of their fingers. This string could not be broken, removed, or cut by any means. The only way that seemed to work to remove it was generating touch energy.

Dragon Blessed Powers & End of Winter
March

The Dragons were finally ready to offer help to Ellipsa. They have been guardians of stronger powers and were not going to give their knowledge to the otherwordly power holders (March Event). The dragons moved to the Abandoned Castle at the border of the Summer and Autumn Segments and invited everyone over there.

Unlocking the powers was done in pairs, preferably with someone person isn't close with. Using the dragon's powers the pair would the dive into a shared mindspace and follow the energy lines to their destination where they had to accept enough truths to finish unlocking the greater power.

Back in the city, an End of the Winter festival was being held, which included the return of the much dreaded Otherwordly Merchandise Store.

Emotional Rain & The Pokémon Dimension
April

As usual, April brought on the Rain of Affection. This time even Frostreign got its share of it as the (not so) notorious Cubs Gang (April TDM). Whenever there was a break in the rain, rainbows would appear. Anyone who held hands looking at a rainbow would find that their truest, deepest wish was now clear in their mind. Holding hands for a longer period of time might have made characters feel compelled to say what they want the most.

In the Underground Mall, a portal dimension entrance appeared. It lead to a place then dubbed Pokémon Dimension. The locals left it open and left a list of things they wanted otherworlders to investigate while in the dungeon.

Blackouts & A Completely Covered Sky
May

All of the four guilds were hosting a spring cleaning weekend that was actually a disguise of preparing for the next big mission and as a way to catch spies in their midst. Before any mission could be started, however, all electricity went out from the city, leaving it in a total blackout (May Event). Criminals also escaped from jail, leaving the whole city in a state of chaos.

It wasn't the end of it. Not long after a black veil appeared on the sky, blocking out the sun, moon and stars. Even the Segments were now covered in pitch black darkness. Once electricity was restored the investigations related to the sky were started. The black veil itself would cause corruption to anyone who touched it.

Turns out there were several black rods placed at the borders of the world. A plan was devised to get rid of them which in turn cleared the skies once again.

Fixing the City & Parties
June

After the disaster of the black out the whole city it's definitely in need of repairs. So everyone is called to help out with removing debris and fixing broken buildings (June TDM).

As a thank you for their efforts to protect the city and for help in cleaning, a beach party was held in Solarpeak. There were stalls with a variety of savory foods, drinks, desserts, and frozen treats, as well as several events scattered in the sandy landscape and in the pool itself.

During a cooking competition anyone was also able to learn to literally cook with love.

The Trials of the Stone Statues
July

It was finally time to start the next mission which took place in the Forest of Courage (July Event). Six stone totems had appeared there (with the symbols of bull, horses, a belt, cows, apples and a three headed dog) and the group starts investigating them. Each totem lead to a different trial, just like at the Puzzling Ruins. This time, however, the trials were more about the mental fortitude.

What's more some of the trials lead to a second trial where found the scars or areas that caused their death start glowing in gold, in a similar manner to kintsugi. Walking through the hallways also lead to getting attacked by voices that would bring out negative sides of the characters to light.

Once the final trial was cleared, Herakles appeared and surrendered himself, also giving them an artifact, which was large, luminescent statue of a tiger.

Back in the city a malicious cold wind blew, bringing back the Frozen Hearts incident. Those with secrets to hide were especially affected, but anyone could have their hearts frozen. Additionally some were even possessed by ice sprites that tend to cause mischief.

A Fair & Scavenger Hunt
August

At the edge of Nightwake, right past the southern bridge, beside the road in the Autumn Segment, a fairground appeared (August TDM). Several different amusement park ride and carnival games could be found there as well as a variety of foods... even cursed flavors.

In the city a charming mascot called Detective Clawdius challenged everyone to a scavenger hunt to find different places at both the city and the Segment. The price was a friendship bracelet that boosted touch energy.
