Hijikata gets close unnoticed and manages to cut the tail (it's a lot less sturdier than the tongue). However, the piece of tail remains around Jean anyway, tightening its grip (as if having a mind of its own). A new one starts immediately growing for the demon and it immediately swipes towards the invisible offender.

The demon sees the lightning sparks and jumps up, attaching itself to the ceiling to avoid being electrocuted. It swings its tongue at Reiner, trying to grab him. Despite being a giant, gross tongue, it moves pretty fast.
