Leave it to his magnificent Rider to land such a precise hit while avoiding his expertly swung swords (probably partly wielded by vines since his body is in a horrible state with the petrification in his system)! Her speed leaves the monster no opportunity to use his fire magic against her either before it meets its end.
Once the vines parts have disintegrated, Hijikata simply falls (lucky to be caught in Medusa's arms). He's in pretty bad shape, outright crying and making nasty rattling noises as he sobs and breathes (again due to the petrification effects; his body is struggling with that a lot - and Medusa's probably is, too).
His Travel Crystal is in his Hammerspace Purse (which he's wearing strapped around him), so Medusa can take it out and use it to get them both to safety. She's taking the strange red crystal with her!
