Other Peoples of Ellipsa

OTHER PEOPLES OF ELLIPSA
LOGS | NETWORK | OOC | MEMES | NAVIGATION
Fairies
Fairies are the most common creatures in all of Ellipsa due to the sheer number of them. They mostly take humanoid, animal or flower forms. They have the ability to mask themselves to appear something other than a fairy whenever necessary. They possess strong magic that they usually use for harmless pranks or to actually help people.
They have always helped Ellipsans however they can and lived in harmony. At least as long as certain rules are followed, such as never giving a fairy your true name or eating food meant to only be consumed by fairy-like creatures.
Fae?
While Fairies and Fae are similar creatures, both of them claim to be different species from one another and often take offense if someone calls them wrongly. Fae are usually portrayed as more mean and malicious and closer to going “to the dark side”. They usually prefer to take the form of sentient food items and plants.
Still, they are no doubt the same species.
Fairy Types
Different types of fairies and fae
There are also groups of fairies that have taken a title for themselves, such as Art Fairies or Fashion Fairies, that aren’t actually part of different fairy types. They are just focused on using their magic on certain types of things.Fairies
• Regular Fairies
• Delivery Fairies: Live all over Nightwake. Deliver “regains” and other posts.
• Flower Fairies: Take care of flowers and add magical effects to them. One of the special ones is the Sugar Plum Fairies are able to give people and monsters a power boost if eaten.
• Teleport Fairies: Teleport items, but can’t teleport living beings. They are usually invisible and follow adventurers, bringing home their belongings if they end up dying.
• Water Fairies: Fairies who live under the Crescent Moon lake and protect important artifacts. They can’t breathe outside water. Water Fairies look like fairies who have a bubble around their head and their wings are more like fins.
• Weather Fairies: They have minor control over weather and can add enhancements to rain and snow.
Fae
• Library Fae: They have the ability to trap people into books and teleport anyone who breaks the rules of the library out (but only rulebreakers).
• Mushroom Fae: They live in the Mushroom Sanctuary, building their kingdom beneath it, occasionally brainwashing and kidnapping people to help.
• Dark Fae: Darkness-corrupted fae who wish to summon ‘the almighty one’.
Fairy Powers
Powers
True NamesNames hold a lot of power. Those who mistakenly give a fairy their true name will end up bound to the fairy. Depending on the personality of the fairy this may be a temporary funny thing or actually kind of dangerous. While they are mostly good hearted they do take advantage of people who are foolish enough to give up their name.
The worst case scenario of giving a fairy your true name is losing their right to use it, meaning the fairy responsible for taking said name can change the person’s form however they wish to. This can mean changing them into a different animal or just messing with the size of their current body.
Fairy Magic
Fairy Magic is very versatile. There’s plenty of spells that can be used by all fairies, but most of them also excel in a particular type of magic that makes them the type they are. These include simple enhancements, transformation magic, small curses and conjuring stuff out of thing air (usually specific to the type of fairy).
Fairy Food
Food that has been made specifically with the fairies in mind is dangerous for others to consume. While nothing at all could happen, there’s a high chance that one of the following does happen:
• Being bound to the Fairy kingdom: Eating their food is often said to bind you to the land of the fairies, forcing you to stay there forever.
• Losing the desire for normal food: You may lose your appetite for human food and find yourself starving unless cared for by the Fairies.
• Magical side effects: Depending on the type of food, you could experience a wide range of unpredictable effects, from hallucinations to physical changes.
Only the Fairy Queen is able to reverse the effects, as long as a worthy price is paid. This can be either a tear of love or an exotic flower, for example.
Fairy Kingdom
The Capital of Fairies & Fae
The Fairy Kingdom is the oldest kingdom of Ellipsa. It has existed ever since the dawn of the world. While most fairies tend to call the place home, they’ve also formed communities in other places, such as the Crescent Moon Lake, Amberfall Library and the Mushroom Sanctuary, among many others. There are various habitats in the Fairy Kingdom, fit for fairies of all shapes and sizes. The queen lives in the castle, surrounded by the court of different types of fairies and fae that help her rule the land with kindness and empathy.
The current Fairy Queen is only 200 years old, which means there have been several rulers before her (she took the throne when she aged 100). An average fairy lives to be around 1000 years old. The previous ruler (current one’s father) lived to 1025, before passing away of natural causes.
Fairy Kingdom’s main concepts are colors and emotions, both which empower the residents there. Any visitors of the newly awakened Kingdom will note that they can use simple fairy spells during their stay, as long as they embrace the emotions or the colors (or both). They will also feel more powerful and their magical energy will naturally grow permanently stronger upon their visit. This upgrade only happens once, so leaving and re-entering the Kingdom doesn’t stack the effect.
The more visitors embrace the two concepts, the more vibrant and happy the Kingdom becomes. The fairies and fae both will treat visitors better the more positivity there is. Those who constantly act rudely or sow negative feelings will be turned partially into different animals (usually pigs, as they think it’s an insult).
Due to the Fairy Kingdom being located in the Spring Segment, the flowers are always in bloom and the air is fresh. The weather inside the Kingdom doesn’t match the one in the segment due to the surrounding magics, so it’s a safe place to hide from natural catastrophes.
Habitats
• Petal Court Gardens: Home of the Fairy Queen’s court. Pristine lawns, endless blossoms, drifting petals that respond to a person's nature or mood. (You might get ominous aura petals around someone threatening or sweet heart petals around someone thinking amorous thoughts). Courtly fae glide around as motes or orbs with wings.
• Glowshimmer Groves: A forest where bioluminescent plants and tiny floating lights hum in response to touch or sound. These groves are especially soothing but be careful not to get too lost in here- they can have humans end up lost in memories, and pull someone in with them to witness them.
• Mushroom Village Outpost: A surface-level cluster of giant mushrooms connected to the deeper Mushroom Sanctuary (with fairy portals). Tiny doorways, fae pranksters, soft glowing spores, and lots of smug mushroom people.
• Skybud Terraces: Floating platforms and petal bridges that rise and fall depending on emotional resonance. Characters with strong emotions may unintentionally launch themselves into the air! But there's much to enjoy here, including making cloud rainbow sweets- the terraces are home to some excellent cuisine! Some of them may cause weird effects as the fairies do love their mischief.
• Dewsong Pools: A serene water-garden inhabited by water fairies who sing to ripple the surface. The pools grant temporary reflection-based magic (clairvoyance, emotional clarity, enhanced sensory perception... and perhaps raised desire for just about anything). Yes, you could end up hyperfocusing or hyperfeeling if you indulge too long.
• Colorforge Hollow: A cavern where emotions harden into colored crystals. Fairies use these to craft wands, jewelry, or spells. Visitors may find their own emotions crystallizing into keepsakes, but don't worry, none of them will be stolen- unless someone takes them. So hold onto your memories, and if you want to remember them, be sure to gift the treasures first!
Notable Areas
These are landmarks that characters may use as hubs, trouble spots, or scenic backdrops.
• Central Plaza & Fountain of Blessings: The main gathering hub. The fountain distributes the permanent magical energy upgrade when offered a fairy coin (once per character).
• Rainbow Canopy Trail: A walkway beneath towering flowers whose petals act as stained glass, casting rainbow light on everything below. Stepping on certain colors activates small spells.
• The Colorless Ruins (Sealed): Remnants of the Darkness-corrupted era. Pale, muted remnants where fae lost their hues. Now safe but eerily quiet. A popular location for letting out those brooding thoughts, but brood too long and you might turn to stone and need to be kissed back to life.
• The Court Amphitheater: Where fairy music, emotional resonance performances, and magical displays are held. The acoustics amplify feelings as much as sound and can make for a magical environment! Concerts are especially wonderful.
• Whimsy Market: A chaotic bazaar full of impossible goods: bottled laughter, petal perfume, illusion candy, tiny familiars, mood-changing sparklers, sentient scarves and more. Prices are emotional energy.
• Heartpath Labyrinth
A shifting, low-danger maze made of hedges and illusions. Gets easier the more honest a character is with their emotions. Fairies use it to teach newcomers how to feel properly.
Other Places
Other fairy and fae communities
Crescent Moon LakeHome of the Water Fairies, their kingdom. This place only appears during the night, when the moon shines on Crescent Moon Lake. The kingdom of the water fairies is full of buildings made of plants and mushrooms that glow a gentle light.
They have gardens of edible water plants and fruit that they use for making food. They also eat some freshwater fish occasionally, but not any of the rare fairy fish.
One particular building is equipped with a highly secure, large vault, where there's a luminescent statue of a turtle that clearly is clearly full of magical energy and a similar one of a tiger (returned after the . Nearby them are three empty slots for different statues. These are the powerful artifacts that the water fairies protect from the forces of evil.
Mushroom Sanctuary
A sanctuary for different sort of mushrooms. There are medical, poisonous and even fluorescent mushrooms that can be used as lamps. Some mushrooms are even big enough to climb on them. There are some mysteries surrounding the sanctuary that have been unexplored due to people not wanting to spend too much time around the resident creatures that live there.
The Mushroom People living here are actually Fae that want to build an underground Fae Mushroom Kingdom. They occasionally kidnap people to help with their project.
Map of the unfinished underground kingdom.
Dragons
Rulers of the skies and masters of magic. Dragons used to live alongside humans until the day they disappeared. However, thanks to the efforts of the otherworlders, dragons once again bless everyone with their presence. Their magic works well against the Darkness, even if it doesn't solve all the problems.
They would be dangerous foes if they were hostile, but current standing is that they're friendly towards otherworlders and natives both.
Wyverns?
Wyverns are similar to dragons for a good reason. They're dragons that were forcefully corrupted by dark energy. Now they multiply in the Darkness, born from the feelings of anger and sadness. A legend says that whenever someone dies with anger and regret, a wyvern is born.
Dragon Types
Dragons come in all kinds of shapes, sizes and colors. The biggest ones are as tall as two-story buildings, while the smallest can be no bigger than housecats. In terms of popular media, there are both 'eastern' and 'western' style dragons.
All dragons can fly, even if they wouldn't have visible wings. Some dragons can even breathe underwater or dive into lava. It has been rumored that some dragons are even capable of traveling in space.
Dragon Powers
Powers
Every dragon possessed three different types of basic magic.• Holy Magic: A powerful form of magic that lets the dragons fight back against dark energy and the Darkness. Their breath can purify someone whose corruption hasn't reached too far inside.
• Seasonal Magic: They possess the elemental magic of one of the four seasons. This includes all of the elements included in one season, except for light and darkness specifically.
• Fast Travel: They have the ability to fly at extreme speeds without making the passengers on their back feel the effects of such speed.
In addition to the basic magic, dragons have a variety of abilities, some still undiscovered. Some have control over mindscapes, like the dragons that help unlock dragon blessed abilities, while others may create illusions, travel portals or barriers. Players are encouraged to come up with non-game breaking abilities for dragons they use in threads.
Dragon Sanctuary
The sanctuary of dragons.
A mysterious castle that stands on the border of Summer and Autumn Segments, surrounded by a thick forest. During early 2025, the dragons have repurposed the castle to be their sanctuary. There are no longer walls separating the two sides and all the rooms have a dragon living in them. Some even have hoards of things they love. A lot of the dragonkin live there and teach otherworlders new dragon blessed powers.

Mermaids
Beautiful half-fish half-human folk that can be talked with through normal means, as long as you do it underwater. They're peaceful and live in the depths of the Great Ocean Lake. Mermaids wish to help restore Ellipsa to its former glory and do what they can to help Otherworlders achieve it. They are also great hunters.
Mermaid tails vary from beautiful tropical fish to big predators. They're usually smooth and sparkly. Mermaids usually have pointy ears and some scales around their human torso as well. They also have gills that help them breathe underwater. They can come up to the surface and breathe air, but most of them can only talk and sing when they're in the water. There are some exceptions of younger mermaids who have used years to learn to communicate with humans on the shore.
Mermaid Powers
Powers
• Singing Magic: All mermaids have a beautiful singing voice. Their voices have powers to heal and remove status ailments. The more mermaids gather together, the stronger the magic is.• Enhancements: The ability to enhance seashells and corals to make them have special effects, such as long distance communication or making people able to breathe under the water. Most of the enhancement were developed to help those living on the land communicate with those in the water.
• Animal Taming: Mermaids are able to communicate and tame various water animals, such as seahorses, seals and even something as big as an orca. They train the animals to be kind to people and even act as mounts if necessary.
Mermaid Kingdom
The kingdom surrounded by corals
The Mermaid Kingdom is located in the Great Ocean Lake. It takes four hours to swim there from the surface. It starts with the Mermaid Village, home to many families who welcome people into their homes. All houses are made of corals and seaweed.A little further into the lake, the Kingdom proper awaits. It's hidden behind caves of made of coral. The castle is built on top of a formation of corals from rocks and coral. Surrounding it are more houses where even more mermaids live in, and gardens of different water herbs and seaweed.
The Mermaid Queen lives in the castle, but she lets others stay there as well, as otherwise she would get very lonely.
More information to come at a later point.
Sirens
Mermaid look-a-likes who pretend to be mermaids to fool people into trusting them. They're also great singers, but instead of healing they cause pain and status effects. Being captured by a siren is equal to either death or slavery. There less Sirens than Mermaids, and they are trying to grow their ranks so they can destroy the other water clan and take control of the Great Ocean Lake. They hide their pointy teeth and spiky tail with magic but when they're exposed they bring out their true colors.
Ever since July 2024, Sirens have been peaceful and actually work with the mermaids. Though hostile Siren groups still remain in the depths.
The peace-loving sirens are kinder, even if still vary of people. They don't hide their teeth or tails and instead show their true forms to be honest. They mostly just want to exist in peace, tired of always fighting with the mermaids. It will take some time before the sirens will properly trust others, but good progress has been made.
Their tails usually look like deep-ocean fish, predators and in general something as dangerous as possible. There's usually always spikes on their tails. Much like mermaids they have pointy ears and scales on their human-torso, but they also have extra sharp teeth. They can only breathe underwater with their gills, with no ability to survive on the surface.
Siren Powers
Powers
• Singing Magic: All sirens have a beautiful singing voice. They can inflict pain and status ailments with their voices and even make existing wounds fester.• Magic Tridents: Some warrior sirens have tridents that can shoot ice and electric crystal at their opponents.
• Creature Control: They're able to force sea creatures into obeying them and fight in their stead.
• Illusions: Sirens are able to make illusions. These illusions usually take the form of someone the person they're directed at yearns for, so they would let down their guard.
Siren Kingdom
The kingdom sleeping deep down
A dark kingdom deep in the Great Ocean Lake. All homes have been made into natural rock formations. The only thing built is the castle that houses many siren families (it used to be solely used by the royal family, but after their numbers dropped they changed their ways). The kingdom is still very much unexplored.

Elves
[More information can be found through exploration and will be added here]
Elves are an old species that has lived in Ellipsa for several centuries. They used to live in silence in the forests, using whatever nature provided with them to survive. They were polite to strangers, but didn't go out of their way to help them.
All elves have pointy ears and they usually look very handsome or beautiful with bright eyes. They are also rather tall.
Elven Kingdom
What used to be
Virion, the rescued Elven Prince, tells that the Elven Kingdom used to reside where the Silent Mountains currently stand. A ritual went wrong, but he's sure that it couldn't have been just that which destroyed the kingdom. Once he's recovered better he will tell more about his kingdom of old.More information to come at a later point.
Dwarves
[More information can be found through exploration and will be added here]
Dwarves were the masters of gemstones and crystals. They knew everything about them and how to enhance them. All dwarves were small, tallest ones being as tall as a young human child. Men dwarves had magnificent beards that they were proud of while women had lustrous hair. They were also very knowledgeable about beer and what food goes well with different types of the beverages.
Crystal Mines
Treasury of gems and crystals
A source of precious gems and crystals that are especially adaptable for magical enhancements. Multiple different races of dwarfs worked there and protected the place. To become a miner in these mines always meant someone had to go through the dwarf trials to be proven worthy.Much remains the same in the Crystal Mines, except it was used by villains to make it into a trap for otherworlders. Some of the technology still remains there, along with animated skeletons.
More information to come at a later point.
Dwarven Kingdom
Hidden beneath the earth
A group of explorers have recently found a throne room in the Crystal Mines, suggesting that their kingdom is somewhere down there.More information to come at a later point.
