As long as they don't touch the elephant at all, it will remain asleep and it's easy to make it past. There's also nothing alarming around there; it seems the Unicorn Elephant has chosen this place for a nap at random.

Once they make it to the door of the ruin, it's locked and there's a stone wall with a curious puzzle. Near them is also a bucket of chalk.

The puzzle is a sudoku, made with roman numerals. (No worries, you as players don't have to solve it, but characters do). They have 3 chances of solving the ancient Sudoku by drawing on the stone with the chalk provided.
