The shadow monster blob has definitely been eating them. They might explode inside of it but it's sadly not very effective no matter which side they explode from. As it is a being made from shadows it can regenerate any lost mass quickly. It does null the power up it got from devouring the Dendro Core though.

The monster changes tactics to try and loop its arms to block any paths out of the hallway instead of attacking them.
