I rolled a D20 dice to see what their success with this plan is. I got 12, so:
The Smoke Bath Bomb is enough to distract whatever is trying to grab them for a moment, while Hijikata's Grenade of Luck turns into a goose that starts chasing the captain, honking loudly. It works, as this is wildly different from what he imagined and they hate geese in hell. Which is why they don't catch a glimpse of the head honcho.
However, just before the successfully manage to leave, a sharp sword-like tendril appears from the bath bomb bubbles and hits Mukuro somewhere (up to you if this is a minor, modest or critical injury and where). It was meant to grab her, but instead "only" injures her. The blade is full of poison, which will slowly make the wound worse unless treated quickly.
Alternatively, Hijikata may notice that he still has a piece of the tongue stuck somewhere on his body, trying to merge with him. Might want to deal with that soon :)
