How bulky are the chests? Could the two of them comfortably carry one back to the horses? Otherwise, could they free up one of the smaller containers since there were a bunch of barrels and boxes around and use that to transport the orbs safely? I imagine with their gear it won't be too difficult to pick them up again from the ceiling.

They'll obviously bring the book back, too.
