They freeze rather easily, but it doesn't kill them. Just makes them very sleepy and harmless for some reason. Huh! You can pass them easily like this. Also Hange can gather some moss into a jar easily.
As they continue further in, they will start hearing whale sounds. Wait, wasn't this the Silent Mountains? Turns out the sounds are made telepathically. The sounds are calming and relaxing. The sound continues as they walk and eventually they find a clearing with a giant floating whale. Well, except only Levi can see it as it's a spirit.
The weird thing is, in this space they're able to hear. Each other, the sound of water dripping into a small pond at the corner of the area (the water is safe to drink but has no special effects. It is super tasty). But the moment they step out of the "room" they're in they lose the ability to hear again.
The space is safe and a good place to rest.
Levi also has the option to interact with the spirit whale and ask it questions.
In the other side of the room, there's yet another exit.
