They will indeed test out the hot spring, and once nothing terrible happens, they'll try dipping a finger in and such. Once it looks like it's repairing whatever cuts or scratches they may have gotten, Levi might try putting his entire mangled hand underwater, though he won't be disappointed when his fingers don't grown back because he wasn't expecting much in the first place.
I don't think they'll be actually getting into it other than that, but they will likely take some samples of the water to test whether it retains the same properties once out of the woods and/or back in the city (hopefully that doesn't make them DEFILERS...) and of course mark it on their map-in-progress as well (another potential spot for a teleport crystal, probably).
If there's nothing else of note they run into (aside from some more monster fighting), at this point they're going to head home, and probably inform Helene of their findings once they've had the chance to write up a report.
